In the early years of this survey, most respondents were moms and pregnant women. This was only natural because these are the people who would most likely search for material about babies and parenting. Also, at that time sites that linked to this one were sites frequented by family-oriented women.
As time went on, people who hold handicapped parking passes found their way to the survey. Most were totally against the idea. Some even took the time to write some negative words about the idea. I can understand their point. My Dad was a legitimate handicap pass holder for the last 20 years of his life on earth. Yet I still don't feel that pregnant women would actually be taking anything away from the permanent pass holders.
Then the Childfree by Choice found my site. Please do not confuse Childfree with Childless. Search for Childfree for an education. This group filled the forum and my personal email box with such hateful words about children, families, babies, moms, dads and minivans that I decided to remove the forum completely. They have their own forums for their rants about the annoying baby they encountered on line in McDonald's, etc. I did not feel the need to provide them with more bandwidth.
Over the years I have received thousands of responses tot he survey. I used totally them by hand and keep count. There were no programs then that produced instant survey results. As time allows, I'll find a program that meets those needs.
Anyway these stats reflect the general trend of respondents minus the childfree by choice.
The following graphs provide a breakdown of respondents by age, how many children they already have and whether they are pregnant now.
Responses to the second question Should moms with newborns be entitled to handicapped parking privileges? almost mirrored the the responses to the first questions. Although there were a few respondents who agreed with one issue and not the other.
The following graph shows the difference in response to these questions. Thirty-one respondents said "no" to newborns using special parking; 27 said "no" to pregnant women.

Please Let me know if these graphs appear legible on your screen and if they make sense to you.
Enjoy. And don't forget to write to your congressperson!

Webmama's note: I created these graphs in 1999 after my site was up for about a year. I continue to receive completed surveys daily. Although the number of respondents has increased, the percentages remain about the same. I now receive more surveys from men and people who already are entitled to handicapped parking privileges than I did in the early years. Most respondents (at least 90 percent) are in favor of pregnant and new moms using handicapped or stork parking.
