Week 5--Animated Cards
This week we used image transition effects in Animation Shop to create animated cards. This is my adaptation of the first part of the lesson:
Mom and Dad
I went on to create my own animated card which is more like a mini movie. After much frustration with Java snow applets, I decided to create my own snow event.
frame 1 white noise

The first frame is just some blurred noise on a white background. It transitioned to the second frame with:

  • Dissolve
  • 1.2 secs
  • 6fps

A snowy night in Manhattan

This is a photo of the corner of 10th Street and First Avenue, New York City. It transitioned to the third frame using:

  • Fade
  • 1.2 secs
  • 6 fps

blur added

Because the original was so grainy, I blurred and softened it. Then used the following to move to the final frame:

  • Saturation wipe
  • 1.2 secs
  • 6 fps
  • Wipe brightest first
  • Wipe according to brightness in both frames

Open 24 hours

The last frame adds the words. Then it uses this transition to cylce back to the first frame.

  • Saturation wipe
  • 1.2 secs
  • 6 fps
  • Wipe darkest first
  • Wipe according to brightness in both frames

When we finally got a beautiful snowfall of our own, I was tempted to try the snow applets once more. I just could not get the one with the transparency to work; the snow was actually piling up at the very top of the jpg—that was aggravating. So I tried the original tutorial applet again and found I was missing a punctuation mark. Here is my snow applet work.
